Dave Chambers is an American artist specializing in abstract expressionist paintings that are known for their immediate impact, vibrant colors and intense self-expression. Born in 1967, Chambers studied painting at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
After graduation, Chambers worked for ten years as a graphic artist for Bell Atlantic/Verizon (1996-2006) before making a name for himself as an award-winning photojournalist at the Delaware State News (2006-2016) where he spent ten years earning a reputation as one of the finest photographers in Delaware. Chambers also taught photography courses at Delaware Technical Community College (2009-2014). Click here to view Chambers’ photography portfolio.
In 2020, Chambers returned to painting full-time to begin building his oeuvre. He is influenced by the New York abstract expressionists of the 1940’s & 1950’s and their diverse non-representational styles. Chambers’ work often contains abstract fields of color in motion and is known for bold, dramatic brushstrokes, which convey his emotions & ideas with a dramatic sense of action. Working urgently, he embraces the role of serendipity and chance in his work.
Chambers currently works as a marketing specialist at the Delaware Public Archives in Dover, Delaware – the town where he was born – and resides in nearby Smyrna, Delaware – the town where he grew up.
